New young defender comes in for a month ...

In a further attempt to bolster the Swans squad ahead of some vital matches in their current fight to preserve our Conference South status, Manager Marcus Gayle has agreed a deal with his former team-mate Dean Holdsworth to bring highly-rated Aldershot Town defender Douglas Bergqvist to Wheatsheaf Park.

The Stockholm born 19 year-old defender is a strong, 6' player with over half a dozen first team appearances for the Shots, but potentially more importantly, some credible Conference South experience having notched-up 45 games over the last twelve months during similar loan spells with Dorchester Town, Basingstoke Town and most notably Farnborough, where the young man played 32 games (with two goals) in what was a very consistent and successful spell at the Rushmoor Stadium last term.

Doug will train with his new Swans team-mates this evening (Thursday) in preparation for joining the squad on Friday afternoon for the long trip down to Cornwall, where the Swans will be hosted by the bottom club, Truro City in what is surely a 'must win' game for the visitors.

Let's all hope that this latest recruit will add some further steel to the side and help kick-off a run of success which is surely much needed in the coming weeks. “Come on you Swans!”
