Like many clubs, AFC Hornchurch usually present a "Man of the Match" award to one of their players after each home game. This didn't happen on Saturday, but not because the "Urchins" fans were dissatisfied with their team's performance. Instead, they had heard about Jack Turner's cancer charity appeal, and rather than splash out on a bottle of bubbly, they kindly donated the £30 saved to this very worthy cause.
In doing so, they have joined the fans of several of our opponents this term, including Tonbridge Angels, Basingstoke Town, Sutton United, and doubtless others that have gone unheralded.
Staines Town FC wishes to record its thanks for this generous gesture.
