With the Euro2012 and Wimbledon now behind us (and with the London Olympics still to come later in the month,) this Saturday sees a chance for Swans supporters to dust down their footie clobber and get a first tantalising look at a brand new looking Swans squad when new Manager Marcus Gayle sends his first team out in pre-season friendly action on the back of five earlier training sessions.
The new-look Swans will be hosted by near neighbours and close friends Staines Lammas FC on Saturday afternoon, kick-off at 3.00pm. The venue being the pleasant surrounds of the Lucan Pavilion Recreation Ground in Laleham Village (just off the high-street.)
Our hosts for the day have asked us to advise that they will be laying on a temporary, external food and refreshment outlet, with their licensed premises also open all afternoon where all draft beer (including Guinness, Strongbow, Stella Artois, Fosters and Amstel) will be under £3 a pint!
Entry to the game will be just £5 for adults and reduced prices for concessions. So what better way to spend your Saturday afternoon than to cheer on the Swans and take your first look at the many new and exciting newly signed players as the Swans kick-off a brand new era under Marcus Gayle.
In what was a first for such an event at Staines Town FC, Manager Marcus Gayle had plenty to think about as he cast his eye over almost three-dozen potential players at a very successful trials evening on Thursday (28th June.) The event was staged at Staines Lammas FC in Laleham Village and culminated in three short, small-sided games on the back of a thorough warm-up and some basic training exercises, all supervised by Gayle who was supported by his assistant Gus Hurdle, player-coach Scott Taylor and Academy coaches Martyn Spong and Mark Fabian. Swans Executive Football Manager Chris Wainwright was also involved, with all pouring over their pre-prepared sheets, which allowed marks to be noted against each player for 'Speed, Stamina, Strength, Suppleness and Skill'.
